2009 REGIONAL AGM AND AWARDS EVENING

 On Tuesday 23rd July South East Gymnastics held it's Annual General Meeting and Awards evening. This was the first Awards Presenatation dinner for 5 years and, in terms of saying thank you to all the people who had served  the sport and the region, there was a lot of catching up to do.

The evenings events were held in the very attractive setting of the Betchworth Park Golf Club in Dorking in Surrey. Invitations for clubs to nominate recipients of the various categories of awards were sent out early in the year and, after a slow start, nominations began to flood in. So much so that at one point we seriously started to think about moving the event to a bigger venue.

In the and, the presentations dinner was attended by well over 100 people, including the 97 awards winners, who ranged from Polly Crathorne, a 15 year old coach, showing great potential, to Gerry Wood, who retired at the end of June, at the ripe age of 80 years, having given a lifetime to coaching gymnastics. It was an evening which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. We want to make this an bi-annual event and hope that the County Associations will hold their own wards ceremonies in the years between.
